Shakespeare’s Love Stories in the Veneto

After the successful stagings at the Castle of The Merchant of Venice and Hamlet, on the occasion of Valentine’s Day the theatre company L’Archibugio returns to amaze audiences with an itinerant performance titled “Shakespeare’s Love Stories in the Veneto.” The event will take place in the evocative rooms of the Castle, a site rich in history and charm, the perfect setting to host one of the most intense and profound legacies of Elizabethan theatre.

The performance will offer a unique immersive experience: spectators will follow the actors from room to room, witnessing firsthand the unfolding of Shakespearean drama in a dynamic and engaging theatrical journey.

Shakespeare liked the Veneto. He never visited it in his lifetime, yet he clearly loved it—otherwise, why would he have set so many stories there? And so we imagine Shakespeare imagining the Veneto. From this imagined Veneto are born the most beautiful love stories of all time. Romeo and Juliet, Othello, The Merchant of Venice, and many more: on February 15, we will encounter them all in the rooms of Thiene Castle, brought to life for the occasion by the actors of L’Archibugio Theatre Company.
