The Castle was chosen for its Venetian architecture, becoming the set of the famous film based on the works of Shakespeare, with Al Pacino and Jeremy Irons. The gallery on the top floor of the Castle was used to recreate the home of the merchant, Antonio, interpreted by Jeremy Irons, while the stables were transformed into a church to celebrate the wedding of Bassiano and Portia.

Although it was set in the United Kingdom, this cult thriller by Emilio P. Miraglia was completely filmed in Veneto. Lord Cunnigham’s English castle is, in fact, Thiene Castle. This film consolidated the Castle’s reputation as an ideal location for Italian and international movie productions.
