Tour of the Venetian Villas: explore Thiene Castle
On January 19, 2025, a new unmissable season opened for Thiene Castle.
After the excellent results achieved in 2024, one of the most enchanting historic residences in Veneto is once again ready to welcome its visitors.
For history and architecture enthusiasts, special guided tours will be organized, every third Sunday of the month, offering access to areas usually closed to the public.
This initiative enriches the cultural scene in Thiene, providing a unique opportunity to discover the hidden wonders of one of the most fascinating historic residences in Veneto.
A Guided Tour to Discover Three Hidden Gems
During these exclusive visits, participants will have the opportunity to access three unique spaces:
- The gothic chapel of the Nativity of Mary: dating back to the late 15th century, it houses precious works of art, including an altarpiece attributed to Pietro Lombardo.
- The ancient kitchens: a journey into the castle’s culinary past, where visitors can admire original tools and settings.
- The 16th-century icehouse: located over four and a half meters deep, this fascinating structure was used to store ice and food.
In addition to these exclusive areas, visitors can admire the frescoed halls by Giovanni Battista Zelotti and Giovanni Antonio Fasolo, a collection of 17th-century equestrian portraits, and the stables designed by architect Francesco Muttoni. All of this is set within a park of over 12,000 square meters, transformed into a romantic garden in the late 19th century.
A Day Immersed in a Historic Italian Residence
Thiene Castle, a 15th-century architectural gem attributed to architect Domenico da Venezia, represents a harmonious fusion of Gothic and Renaissance elements.
Considered unique among Venetian villas, it combines features of a medieval castle with those of a Venetian palace, in a fully pre-Palladian style.
As noted in an article by padovanews.it:
“These wonders are open to visitors all year round, every weekend, with the support of cutting-edge multimedia tools thanks to a dedicated APP and magical mirror installations that combine augmented reality, artificial intelligence, sound design, and even acting.”
Veneto Segreto Returns to Thiene Castle

The next event is scheduled for Saturday, March 29, 2025. On this special day, visitors will enjoy an exclusive experience, exploring not only the villa and its stunning park but also areas usually closed to the public, such as the old great kitchen and the mysterious underground rooms.
